1. Introduction
Price Matcher ("we", "our", "the extension"), operated by Newest Code LLC, is a browser extension that helps e-commerce merchants compare their product prices against competitors. This privacy policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, how we store it, and how we share it.
2. Data We Collect
- Product titles and prices — read from the Shopify product page you are viewing. Sent to our server to search for competitor prices.
- Browser fingerprint — a non-identifying hash from your browser's language, timezone, and platform. Used solely to manage free trial periods.
- License key — stored locally and sent to our server for validation.
- User preferences — alert threshold setting, stored locally.
- Cached price results — stored locally for 12 hours.
3. Data We Do NOT Collect
- No personal information (name, email, address) through the extension
- No browsing history or website tracking
- No financial or payment information (handled by Stripe)
- No authentication credentials or passwords
- No personal communications
- No location data
- No cookies or tracking pixels
4. How We Use Your Data
- Product titles are sent to our server to fetch competitor prices. Not stored.
- Browser fingerprints are stored on our server to track trial periods and prevent abuse. Cannot identify you personally.
- License keys are validated against our database to confirm active subscriptions.
- User preferences are stored locally and never sent to any server.
5. Data Storage
- Local (your browser): License key, preferences, cached results, fingerprint hash. Deleted on uninstall.
- Server (Supabase): Fingerprint hashes, trial dates, license keys, subscription status.
- Retention: Cache deleted after 12 hours. Server records retained for subscription duration plus 30 days.
6. Data Sharing
We share data with the following services solely to provide our service:
- SerpApi — receives product titles to search for competitor prices
- Stripe — processes subscription payments
- Resend — sends license key emails to subscribers
- Supabase — hosts our database
- Vercel — hosts our API server
We do not sell, rent, or trade any user data to third parties.
7. User Rights
- Access: View locally stored data via chrome://extensions.
- Deletion: Uninstalling removes all local data. Email us to delete server-side data.
- Opt-out: Uninstall the extension at any time.
8. Children's Privacy
Price Matcher is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
9. Security
We use HTTPS encryption for all data in transit, secure database hosting, and access controls on our server infrastructure.
10. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above.
